Finished reading William Least Heat Moon's Blue Highway this morning. Here are at least two things I learned from the book: 1) Least Heat Moon's book works because he talks to people, and 2) people, in general, are suspicious of those who wander.

Putting together talented musicians of disparate backgrounds may sometimes create a new surprising sound. [disparate: Dictionary.com Word of the Day]

Just watched Hero, the latest movie by Chinese director Chang Yimou. I thought some of the fight scenes dragged on too long and the special effects were a bit tiring, but the unpredictable story line - coupled with excellent character development on all fronts - was brought out to an immensely satisfying conclusion. The movie argues as such: a real hero is one that manages to throw out his convictions - sometimes at the last minute - for the well being of the common.

Mr. Wanderlust is looking forward to touring by motorcycle. One thing about doing a long trip on motorcycle is that it forces one to take the minimum of things. This would be good training for someone like me who always overpack.

On April 30 Mr. Wanderlust blogged about my computer zapping me. It might just be a simple case of not properly grounding my laptop. I should replace the two-pronged cable from the AC adapter to the outlet with a three-pronged cable. Will report later if the zapping continues.

The music from Paul Simon's "The Rhythm of the Saints" album borrows heavily from Brazilian and African rhythms and when combined with Simon's keen lyrical sense the resulting mixture is a delightfully daedal soundscape that is a treat to the ears.

If Mr. Wanderlust had switched to Macs today, what would he be missing most about Windows PC? The answers are 1) Microsoft Bookshelf, 2) Microsoft Encarta, and 3) the seemingly lack of decent money management software on the Mac OSX platform. The first two are such excellent references that despite Mr. Wanderlust's dislike for most MS products he find it difficult to part with those two gems. Other than that there is not much holding me back and I anticipate a jump to the Mac platform sometime this year.
